Intensive Moscow's Assaults Disrupt Power Across Ukraine's Capital

Power facilities under attack in the region
Ukraine's energy systems have faced increased attacks in recent weeks

Throughout the evening, Russian missile and drone strikes have caused electricity outages in large parts of the capital city, the Ukrainian capital.

Nine people were injured while inhabitants in the city's east were left without electricity and faced disruption to water supplies, per reports from local authorities.

Meanwhile, a young boy was lost their life in a different assault in the Zaporizhzhia region in the country's south-east, as reported by area administrators.

Moscow has increased attacks on energy facilities over the last fortnight, while Ukrainian leadership has requested "concrete actions" from international partners to increase pressure on Russia.

"What's needed is not superficial actions but firm measures - from the America, European nations and the G7 - in providing protection systems and implementing restrictions," was stated in a public message.

Authorities reported that hundreds of unmanned aircraft and several dozen projectiles attacked Ukraine's energy infrastructure, characterizing such strikes as "cynical and calculated" and against "everything that sustains normal life" as the weather cools.

The energy minister said Moscow was "conducting extensive attacks" and maintenance teams were working to fix the damage.

A barrage of missiles struck electrical systems and civilian homes in Kyiv.

Five out of the nine people injured in the strikes on the capital have been transported for medical care, as confirmed by local officials.

Local officials said the urban area came under heavy assaults overnight. A seven-year-old child was killed and multiple civilians were hurt.

The attacks follow periods of aerial attacks in the area, portions of which remain under the control of Russian forces.

All of Ukraine is on alert for sophisticated projectile assaults, which are more difficult to spot.

National leaders told the media that Russia was intentionally trying to damage the national power system, with strikes already affecting fuel infrastructure.

Officials stated energy workers and government agencies were anticipating additional strikes.
