Jair Bolsonaro has been taken into custody after authorities found he posed a serious risk of fleeing while under domestic detention.

The ex-president was convicted of orchestrating a military coup in last fall and sentenced more than 27 years in incarceration, but he was staying under home detention pending court reviews.

High Court Judge Justice Moraes said the action to imprison the 70-year-old politician was a precautionary step after fresh information were revealed.
